Her direct and magnetic gaze draws us in and invites us into her story. Deidra has many personal strengths, but in this piece I specifically wanted to capture her strength, resilience, and a sense of her directness. This painting was completed in front of a live audience as a celebration of our community and the arts. Later this painting was awarded 2nd place at the SAAG Annual National Exhibition.
